Darwin's dry season (May to October) is the reason people move here: near-zero rainfall, humidity under 60% and days that sit between 30°C and 33°C. Mornings drop to the low twenties — genuinely cool by Territory standards — which is why the suitcase needs a layer, not just linen.
UV is the other constant. The index hits 'extreme' most days even in July, so the packing list starts with sun strategy, not outfits.
Pack for the sun, dress for the lagoon, and let the resort worry about the rest.

Linen and light cottons carry a Darwin day. Pack for three modes: resort (swimwear, cover-ups, sandals), town (smart casual — Deckchair Cinema, harbour restaurants), and outback day trips (closed shoes, a hat with a brim that means business, long sleeves for sun rather than warmth).
For evenings: a light jacket or wrap for dawn excursions and air-conditioned interiors. Guests dining at the Chef's Table sit at smart-casual — collared linen does the job; jackets are welcome but not required.
Heavy rain gear (it will not rain), formalwear beyond one smart outfit, and anything that cannot handle 75% humidity at night. The suites hold robes, slippers, pool towels and reef-safe sunscreen — the concierge keeps a borrowing shelf of hats and reading glasses for the forgetful.
Leave room for the return leg: markets art, a bottle of something NT-made, and the sand that gets into everything regardless. A soft duffel inside the suitcase is the local trick — checked luggage out, memories in.
